Philippine Peso Falls Below 63, Hitting a Record Low and Putting Cross-Border Sellers Under FX Pressure

According to news from Chuhaiwang, data from the Bankers Association of the Philippines show that in morning trading on 10 15, the Philippine peso fell below the threshold of 63 pesos per 1 US dollar, setting a new intraday record low. It closed at 62.87 on the previous trading day (10 14). The peso’s continued decline poses a real risk to cross-border sellers operating in the Philippine market: platform proceeds are settled in pesos, and converting the depreciated local currency back into renminbi will directly incur foreign exchange losses and erode profits. At the same time, currency depreciation drives up local inflation and weakens consumers’ purchasing power, while raising prices hastily may lead to lost orders. Sellers are advised to closely monitor exchange rate fluctuations, plan payout timing and pricing contingencies, and, where necessary, use tools such as forward exchange contracts to hedge against risk.
