The World Is Using AI for R&D—What Is China Using AI For?

Published · Updated
Recently, I’ve been researching practical applications of AI in cross-border business and how to use AI to reduce costs and improve efficiency.Previously, I used an AI agent to optimize SEO and GEO for an independent website—that was just the simplest application. Now I want to use AI to automate an entire social media traffic-generation process.AI can do so many things now.I’ve already fully automated social media posting and traffic generation with AI.I use Grok Plus+. I chose Grok mainly for the following reasons1. Simple payment: Grok is available to users in China, which is much more convenient than GPT and Claude. You can pay directly with Alipay. It costs 100 dollars a month, which is enough for now.2. I have a lingerie website and need to generate some product images, while other large models, such asDeepSeekdo not allow this kind of image generation. They uniformly classify these images as pornographic, whereas Grok has no such concern.3. Grok includes other large models by default, and you can also call them as needed. GPT and Claude are included too. The quotas are limited, but enough for emergencies. Then, last month, as the end of the month was approaching and I still had quota left, I used the remaining quota to develop an app.I also have quota left this month, so I’ve been developing a small game in my spare time.I’m also using Grok Bot to fully automate the development of B2B customers. And I’ve already received valid inquiries. In the past, one person could never have done all this work. Now, with AI’s help, one person can complete in a short time the amount of work that used to take a team a month or even half a year.So AI is the direction of the future. It’s like when the internet first emerged decades ago: if you didn’t learn to use it, you would be left behind by society.Think back to when the internet was just taking off. How many wealth-creation stories did it give rise to?Sohu, NetEase, Tencent, and Alibaba all rose during that period.Today, if you don’t learn about and study AI, you’ll likewise be left behind by society. I believe this wave of AI will soon give rise to some new unicorn companies and new wealth-creation stories. We can’t build large AI models, but we can use AI to develop small things. For example, there’s a game called Stardew Valley. One person spent several years developing it, and then it became a huge hit. The creator achieved financial freedom. There was no AI back then, but now developing a similar game with AI might take only a month or so.I’m also developing a small game and will try to release it on Steam. I don’t expect to sell many copies or make money; I just want to see whether this path can work.Cross-border e-commerce means selling products overseas, and games count as products too.The main thing is, this won’t take up much of my time. Cursor has a cloud development feature; it runs in the cloud by itself, so the local computer can be turned off.Projects with a cloud icon beside them are Cursor’s cloud tasks. They run directly on the cloud servers it provides, so they don’t need the local computer. All these features are included in the Grok Plus+ service.I use the leftover monthly quota from automating cross-border e-commerce social media, which I don’t use up, to run these tasks.Developing an app while also developing a small game.My social IM app is almost complete. I’ll first have a few friends try it out on a small scale. So I strongly recommend that everyone take the time to learn about and use AI.AI can turn many of your ideas into reality.I believe every technically minded guy has a few great ideas in his head.People always say, “I just don’t know how to code. I just don’t have the investment. Otherwise, if I could bring my idea to life, I’d be the next Steve Jobs.”Now, with AI, many of your ideas can actually be brought to life quite easily. It just depends on whether you’re willing to do it.These days, many people online say society is unfair, and that they’re done working—that they won’t work another day.I think that’s a personal choice, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Work if you want to; don’t if you don’t.But if you don’t work, what are you going to do lying around at home? What’s the point of playing games all day?Learn about AI and turn those wild ideas in your head into reality. Surely that’s much more interesting than vegetating at home.
