Unregistered Fabric Softener Seized in the Philippines; Two Chinese Nationals Arrested

Published · Updated
According to Seawoo.com, the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) searched a warehouse in the town of San Simon, Pampanga, on 10 12, seizing a large quantity of fabric softener that was not registered with the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA), valued at approximately 120 ten thousand pesos. Two Chinese nationals were arrested. The operation ran from around 11 in the morning until 9 30 in the evening. It was carried out by the CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit in coordination with the Philippine Air Force and the FDA. The two men arrested were shareholders and managers of the chemical manufacturing company involved and were suspected of storing and selling fabric softener without formal registration. The company was also alleged to have operated without the License to Operate (LTO) required by the FDA. This is the second recent case in the Philippines involving Chinese business operators and unregistered consumer products. Earlier, 3 Chinese nationals were arrested in Tacloban City on suspicion of selling unregistered skincare products. Sellers of imported household goods, beauty products, health products, and cleaning supplies should recheck product registration certificates, LTOs, and supplier documents.
